School Caretaker — Solihull

Location: Solihull
Contract: Full-time, Permanent
Hours: 6:00am–2:00pm, Monday–Friday
Salary: £25,550–£26,550 per annum

Role

We are looking for a reliable, hardworking and practical School Caretaker to help maintain the school site, ensuring it is safe, secure, clean and ready for pupils and staff each day.

Key Duties

  • Open and prepare the school each morning.
  • Carry out general caretaking, maintenance and safety checks.
  • Report repairs and maintenance issues.
  • Support heating systems and site facilities.
  • Supervise cleaning staff and contractors.
  • Maintain cleanliness of buildings and grounds.
  • Manage recycling, cleaning supplies and lost property.
  • Carry out security and keyholder duties, including alarm response.
  • Assist with visitors, contractors, parking and school events.
  • Complete post runs and other general duties.
  • Provide cover for the Caretaker when required.

Essential Requirements

  • Previous caretaking or school experience.
  • Full, clean driving licence.
  • Knowledge of cleaning and basic maintenance.
  • Understanding of health and safety and safeguarding.
  • Good organisational and IT skills.
  • Reliable, punctual and physically fit.
  • Able to work independently and use initiative.
  • Calm, flexible and professional approach.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills.

Desirable

  • First Aid qualification.
  • D1 licence or MiDAS qualification.
  • Experience supervising staff.
  • Minibus driving experience.
