Part-Time | Permanent | Term-Time Only (0.7 FTE – all mornings and two afternoons per week) Ulverston. Our client is a welcoming and values-led primary school based in South Cumbria, seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join its dedicated team on a permanent basis. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled practitioner who is passionate about supporting children’s achievement and development.
The successful candidate will play a key role in teaching and learning across the school, with a particular focus on phonics, early writing and mathematics, working with individuals, groups and whole classes.
The Role
- Support and deliver high-quality learning opportunities across the school.
- Plan, prepare and deliver learning activities for individuals, small groups and whole classes under the direction of teaching staff.
- Support pupil progress through assessment, observation and feedback.
- Deliver targeted interventions in phonics, writing and mathematics.
- Encourage pupils to become confident, independent learners.
- Help create a positive and inclusive learning environment.
- Work closely with teachers, support staff, parents and external professionals where required.
- Support pupils with a range of learning, communication, behavioural or additional needs.
- Provide guidance and support to other members of the support staff team where appropriate.
The Ideal Candidate
- Holds HLTA status or is willing to work towards achieving HLTA accreditation.
- Has significant experience working within a primary school setting.
- Demonstrates a strong understanding of child development and effective learning strategies.
- Has experience delivering interventions and supporting whole-class learning.
- Is confident supporting phonics, literacy and mathematics.
- Can build positive relationships with pupils, colleagues and families.
- Is organised, adaptable and able to work independently using their own initiative.
- Is committed to high standards and helping every child achieve their full potential.
- Supports a values-based approach to education.
Desirable Experience
- Phonics training, such as Read Write Inc. or equivalent.
- Experience supporting children with SEND, EAL or additional learning needs.
- Maths mastery training or intervention experience.
- First Aid qualification.
- Experience leading learning for classes during teacher absence.
