Role Overview
We are seeking a professional and organised Clerk to Governors to provide administrative and governance support to the Governing Board.
The successful candidate will work closely with the Chair of Governors and school leadership team to ensure meetings are effectively organised, governance records are accurately maintained and statutory requirements are met.
Key Responsibilities
- Organise and coordinate Governing Board and committee meetings.
- Prepare and distribute agendas, minutes and supporting papers.
- Attend meetings and produce accurate minutes.
- Maintain governance records, registers and documentation.
- Monitor and track actions arising from meetings.
- Provide procedural and administrative advice to governors.
- Ensure governance activities comply with relevant regulations and best practice.
- Manage governance correspondence and communications.
Person Specification
Essential
- Previous administrative experience.
- Excellent organisational and time-management skills.
- Strong written communication and minute-taking ability.
- Good IT skills, including Microsoft Word, Outlook and Teams.
- Ability to work independently and maintain confidentiality.
- Access to a suitable home-working environment and reliable internet connection.
Desirable
- Previous experience as a Clerk to Governors, Clerk to Trustees or similar governance role.
- Knowledge of school governance.
- Experience working within the education sector.
- Safeguarding
The successful candidate will be subject to an Enhanced DBS check, satisfactory references and all relevant pre-employment checks.
