Senior School IT Technician – Tunbridge Wells

Location: Tunbridge Wells
Type: Full-time, Permanent (52 weeks per year)
Salary: £27,904 per annum (Kent Range D)

Job Purpose

To provide technical support across the organisation, maintaining hardware, software, networks and IT systems. The postholder will provide first and second-line support to staff and students, assist with infrastructure management, and support the wider IT team with projects and day-to-day operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide first and second-line technical support, troubleshooting issues and escalating where required.




• Support and maintain network infrastructure, including managed switches and firewalls.




• Manage Windows, macOS and iOS devices and associated management systems.




• Maintain an accurate IT asset register and support equipment procurement.




• Deploy and maintain software using remote management and deployment tools.




• Maintain telephony, PA and other communication systems.




• Manage cloud services, user accounts and access permissions.




• Support IT security, including firewalls, malware protection and other security systems.




• Assist with safeguarding and filtering systems, including providing relevant reports.




• Support data protection, information governance and compliance requirements.




• Assist with IT projects and provide guidance to junior technicians and end users.




• Keep up to date with developments in technology, legislation and relevant professional training.




• Provide IT support for events and other activities outside normal working hours when required.

Person Specification

Qualifications

• Level 3 Diploma in IT or equivalent qualification.

Experience

• Experience working in an IT support environment.




• Experience with relevant software, hardware and networks.




• Experience within an educational environment is desirable.

Skills & Abilities

• Strong communication and customer-service skills.




• Ability to troubleshoot technical issues effectively.




• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.




• Understanding of IT-related health and safety requirements.

Knowledge

• Good knowledge of IT systems, software and network management.




• Understanding of data protection, information governance and relevant legislation.




• Awareness of current technology developments, particularly educational technology.
