About the Role

We are seeking an experienced School Site & Facilities Manager to lead the day-to-day management, maintenance, safety and security of a busy school site.

This is a hands‑on leadership role responsible for ensuring buildings and grounds remain safe, compliant, well‑maintained and fit for purpose.

The successful candidate will manage site operations, oversee maintenance programmes, coordinate contractors, lead a caretaking team and ensure full compliance with health and safety legislation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the maintenance, repair and development of school buildings and grounds.
  • Deliver planned preventative maintenance programmes.
  • Ensure compliance with all health and safety, fire, asbestos, legionella, electrical and gas safety requirements.
  • Lead and develop the caretaking team, including performance management and staffing.
  • Manage external contractors, service agreements and maintenance projects.
  • Oversee site security, including alarms, CCTV, access control and emergency procedures.
  • Carry out site inspections, risk assessments and compliance audits.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance, compliance and facilities records.
  • Manage premises budgets, obtain quotations and ensure value for money.
  • Support refurbishment and capital improvement projects.
  • Promote a safe, secure and customer‑focused environment.

About You

You will have

  • Significant experience in site, premises or facilities management.
  • Experience managing building maintenance, contractors and facilities projects.
  • Experience leading teams and managing budgets.
  • Strong knowledge of health and safety legislation and statutory compliance.
  • Excellent organisational, communication and problem‑solving skills.
  • Good IT and record management skills.
  • An IOSH or NEBOSH Health & Safety qualification (or equivalent) is desirable.
  • Facilities Management and First Aid qualifications are advantageous.

You will be professional, reliable and proactive, with a commitment to maintaining high standards, ensuring compliance and delivering an efficient facilities service within a school environment.
