We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Computer Science Teacher to join an SEN School in the East Grinstead area. This is a full-time, permanent position to start in September 2026, working with students aged 10–16 with a range of Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver engaging and effective Computer Science lessons at KS2 (Year 6 only), KS3 & KS4
  • Plan, prepare, and assess high-quality lessons tailored to students of varying abilities and additional learning needs
  • Differentiating learning to support pupils with SEMH needs, ensuring accessibility and engagement for all learners
  • Monitor pupil progress and provide targeted support to ensure all students reach their full potential
  • Use a trauma-informed and restorative approach to behaviour support within the classroom
  • Contribute to curriculum planning and the ongoing development of the department
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues, students, and parents/carers to foster a positive, inclusive and nurturing learning environment

The Ideal Candidate

  • Dynamic, motivated, and passionate about Computer Science education and Special Educational Needs (SEN), particularly SEMH
  • Experience working with, or a strong understanding of, students with SEMH needs, autism, ADHD, and other additional learning needs
  • Confident in using positive behaviour management strategies, including de-escalation techniques and restorative practices
  • Understand the barriers to learning faced by students with SEMH and be able to adapt teaching approaches accordingly
  • Inspire and engage learners of all abilities through creative and flexible teaching methods
  • Demonstrate strong classroom and behaviour management skills in challenging contexts
  • Show commitment to continuous professional development, particularly within SEN/SEMH education
  • Exhibit excellent organisational and communication skills
  • Maintain a professional, patient, and proactive approach at all times
