About the Role
We are seeking a reliable, proactive, and hands-on School Caretaker to join a busy school in Erdington.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong maintenance skills who takes pride in creating a safe, secure, and welcoming environment for pupils, staff, and visitors.
The successful candidate will play a key role in the day-to-day management of the school site, ensuring the premises are well maintained, compliant with health and safety regulations, and fully operational at all times.
Responsibilities
- Open and secure the school premises each day.
- Oversee the security, maintenance, and general upkeep of the school buildings and grounds.
- Carry out routine maintenance, minor repairs, and basic DIY tasks.
- Ensure the school site remains safe, clean, tidy, and presentable.
- Conduct regular health and safety checks, reporting and addressing any issues where appropriate.
- Assist with setting up classrooms, halls, and other facilities for school events and activities.
- Respond promptly to maintenance issues to minimise disruption to the school day.
- Liaise with contractors and school staff when required.
Qualifications & About You
- Previous experience in a caretaker, site manager, facilities, or maintenance role.
- Good practical skills with the ability to carry out a range of minor repairs and maintenance tasks.
- A sound understanding of health and safety procedures and regulations.
- The ability to work independently and prioritise your workload effectively.
- A reliable, organised, and proactive approach to work.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- A current Enhanced DBS
- Availability to start immediately.
