About the Role
We are seeking a dependable and proactive School Caretaker to join a busy school in Sutton Coldfield. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with practical maintenance experience who takes pride in maintaining a safe, secure, and welcoming environment for pupils, staff, and visitors.
As the School Caretaker, you will play a key role in the day-to-day management of the school site, ensuring the buildings and grounds are well maintained, compliant with health and safety standards, and fully operational at all times.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain the security, safety, and overall upkeep of the school buildings and grounds.
- Carry out routine maintenance, minor repairs, and general handyman duties.
- Ensure the premises remain clean, safe, and presentable for pupils, staff, and visitors.
- Conduct regular health and safety inspections, reporting and addressing any issues as required.
- Liaise with external contractors and oversee maintenance work carried out on site.
- Set up classrooms, halls, and other facilities for school events, meetings, and activities.
- Respond promptly to maintenance requests to minimise disruption to the school day.
About You
- Previous experience in a caretaker, facilities, site management, or maintenance role.
- Good practical skills with the ability to carry out a range of minor repairs and maintenance tasks.
- A sound understanding of health and safety procedures and best practices.
- The ability to work independently, prioritise tasks, and manage your workload effectively.
- A reliable, organised, and proactive approach to work.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- An Enhanced DBS certificate.
- Availability to start as soon as possible.
