About the Position

The Senior BIM Specialist II is TEECOM’s highest‑level individual contributor in BIM production. As the senior technical expert in BIM execution, you will lead complex modeling workflows, drive coordination strategy, and ensure TEECOM’s deliverables are accurate, constructible, and aligned with our standards.

  • Lead Advanced BIM Execution: Direct modeling strategy, resolve complex coordination challenges, and keep disciplines aligned. Contribute to Team Learning, Collaboration, and Mentorship

  • Coach Designers and Senior BIM Specialists I through clear guidance and modeled best practices. Improve team cohesion by improving communication, surfacing risks early, and reinforcing transparent documentation. Standardize high‑quality practices and foster a collaborative, learning‑focused environment.

Improve the TEECOM System

  • Model disciplined workflows and enforce consistent application of TEECOM standards. Ensure models and documentation are structured, accurate, and aligned with design intent. Identify systemic gaps and drive improvements to tools, templates, and standards.

Annual and Quarterly

  • Advance BIM strategy, coordination practices, and production workflows through applied leadership and continuous improvement.
  • Partner with Production Leads and engineering teams to align goals that strengthen modeling quality, consistency, and delivery efficiency.
  • Participate in performance assessments and demonstrate measurable impact on BIM execution, workflow refinement, and coordination outcomes.
  • Lead contributions to BIM standards, templates, and production methodologies—authoring or reviewing updates.
  • Support development of production resources, documentation, and training materials.
  • Strengthen QA/QC practices by identifying recurring production challenges and implementing solutions.
  • Contribute to BIM innovation by evaluating tools, workflows, or automation opportunities.

Monthly and Semi‑Monthly

  • Lead BIM execution across assigned projects, reinforcing strong model structure, coordination clarity, and disciplined documentation practices.
  • Support coordination cycles and clash detection workflows, identifying risks early.
  • Participate in discipline, production, and project meetings, communicating modeling considerations and technical recommendations.
  • Collaborate closely with engineers to validate design intent and convert markups into coordinated documentation.
  • Contribute to the evolution of BIM standards, content libraries, and workflows via Pull Requests.
  • Strengthen team capability through informal guidance and knowledge sharing.
  • Provide production insight to Production Leads by surfacing workload risks or skill gaps.
  • Maintain accurate and timely time and expense entries.

Weekly and Daily

  • Lead updates to models, sheets, families, coordination views, and drawing sets to maintain alignment and momentum.
  • Communicate modeling assumptions, workflow impacts, and required decisions with clarity.
  • Perform detailed model reviews to enforce standards compliance and documentation quality.
  • Translate complex engineering markups into coordinated documentation.
  • Maintain visibility into tasks and dependencies via Asana and related tools.
  • Document BIM decisions, standards clarifications, and project requirements in GitHub and the Design Decision Log.
  • Coach and answer questions, aiding Designers with modeling or coordination challenges.
  • Participate in daily huddles to align on priorities, risks, and coordination needs.
  • Execute modeling, documentation, and coordination work with ownership and minimal oversight.
  • Resolve conflicts, update views, and maintain consistent structure.
  • Communicate proactively with engineers and project teams to confirm assumptions and maintain alignment.
  • Keep daily time entries accurate and production documentation current.

As Needed

  • Support site walks, existing conditions verification, or field documentation.
  • Contribute to pursuits by advising on BIM workflows and production considerations.
  • Refine families, utilities, templates, views, or scripts to improve efficiency.
  • Collaborate with R&D on BIM standards, template evolution, emerging tools, and workflow improvements.
  • Participate in vendor sessions, user groups, or industry forums to stay current on BIM trends.
  • Provide guidance on complex modeling or coordination challenges requiring senior production judgment.
  • Support other project teams during shifting workload or complex phases to maintain firm-wide delivery alignment.

Supervisory / Mentorship / Training Responsibilities

  • Supervisory: No direct reports. Guide BIM execution across assigned projects, reinforcing expectations and supporting team members.
  • Mentorship: Offer advanced technical guidance on complex decisions, coordination strategy, workflow planning, and problem resolution.
  • Training: Lead or contribute to firm‑wide BIM training, facilitate Revit and standards sessions, and help evolve production methodologies.

Experience and Qualifications

  • Education: Associate Degree or Technical Certificate in Drafting, Architecture, Engineering, or related field; or equivalent BIM production experience.
  • Experience: 7+ years in AEC industry with expert-level proficiency in Revit, BIM workflows, coordinated modeling, and large or complex project delivery.
  • Preferred: Experience leading BIM coordination cycles, developing standards, or supporting technology system layouts in partnership with engineers and project leads. Demonstrated ability to lead production for multi‑discipline projects, managing model setup, structure, health, coordination, and documentation quality. Strong organizational and communication skills, including planning workflows, delegating tasks, and supporting team members. Deep understanding of cross‑discipline coordination and how modeling decisions impact engineering, construction, and field installation. Advanced proficiency in Autodesk Revit and Navisworks; familiarity with AutoCAD, Bluebeam Studio, Microsoft 365, Google Workspace, Asana, and GitHub. Experience contributing to BIM standards, templates, libraries, or automation tools and guiding implementation.

Industry Certifications (Preferred but Not Required)

  • Autodesk Certified Professional plus CDT plus CTS (AV) plus RCDD (Telecom) plus PSP/CPP (Security)

Physical Demands

  • Prolonged desk work using a computer, keyboard, mouse, and telephone.
  • Regular reading, writing, and communication in virtual and in‑person settings.
  • Occasional travel to client sites for meetings, surveys, or inspections. Site walks may require standing or walking for extended periods, climbing stairs, and navigating construction or utility areas. Field activities may involve bending, kneeling, or maneuvering in confined spaces. May occasionally lift or move equipment weighing up to 25 pounds.

Work Environment

  • Approximately 75% remote or office environment; 25% on client sites, including construction environments. Construction sites may involve elevated noise, dust, uneven surfaces, variable lighting, and active operations. Utility rooms may have restricted access; TEECOM will coordinate reasonable accommodations. All accidents, near misses, or unsafe conditions must be reported immediately to site superintendent and internally to People Operations.
