Role can be based in the UK or at our facilities in Toomebridge, Northern Ireland. The role will require regular travel. We are seeking a Senior Mechanical / Electrical Engineer with strong experience in industrial machinery and control systems. This is a hands-on role suited to someone who understands how machines behave in the real world, not just how they are meant to work on paper.
You will work across mechanical, electrical, and control disciplines, supporting the design, build, commissioning, and ongoing improvement of industrial machines. The role involves regular travel to customer sites for commissioning, diagnostics, and support. This role is ideal for an engineer who enjoys variety, problem-solving, and being close to the machine.
Key Responsibilities- Support the design and development of industrial machinery from concept through to commissioning
- Work with control systems engineers to ensure effective integration of software, electrical, and mechanical systems
- Design, review, and troubleshoot electrical systems, including control panels, wiring, sensors, and actuators
- Provide on-site support for commissioning, fault-finding, and upgrades
- Interpret and work from mechanical drawings and electrical schematics
- Diagnose and resolve issues across mechanical, electrical, and control interfaces
- Feed field experience back into engineering improvements and design changes
- Support manufacturing, installation, and service teams as required
- Strong background in mechanical and electrical engineering within industrial environments
- Proven experience working with industrial machinery and control systems
- Good understanding of: Sensors, actuators, motors, and drives; Control panels and industrial wiring; Electro-mechanical systems
- Ability to understand how control logic interacts with mechanical systems
- Confident reading electrical schematics and mechanical drawings
- Comfortable working hands-on with machinery and control hardware
- Willing and able to travel regularly to customer and factory sites
- Experience commissioning or supporting industrial machines in the field
- Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills
- Practical, methodical approach to problem-solving
- Comfortable working independently on-site when required
- Clear communicator with both customers and internal teams
- Exposure to PLC-based systems or embedded control platforms
- Experience with hydraulics or pneumatics
- Background in mobile machinery, manufacturing, or heavy equipment
- Familiarity with machinery safety concepts and risk assessments
