We're recruiting on behalf of our client for an experienced Lead Electrical Engineer to join a prestigious high-end commercial office site in the heart of Birmingham. This is an excellent opportunity for an electrically biased building services engineer looking to step into a leadership role, overseeing the day-to-day engineering operation of a flagship commercial building while managing a small on-site team of two engineers. You'll play a key role in ensuring the building is maintained to the highest standard, delivering exceptional service to the client while driving compliance, reliability, and continuous improvement across all building services.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and support a team of two on-site engineers, ensuring high standards of maintenance and service delivery.
- Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance across electrical and mechanical building services.
- Take responsibility for the day-to-day operation of a prestigious commercial office building.
- Ensure statutory compliance, health & safety legislation, and company procedures are adhered to at all times.
- Supervise specialist contractors, issuing permits to work and monitoring works to completion.
- Act as the main engineering contact for the client, maintaining strong professional relationships through excellent communication and service.
- Complete maintenance reports, compliance documentation, and CAFM updates accurately and on time.
- Support the planning and coordination of maintenance activities while identifying opportunities to improve building performance and efficiency.
- Participate in a 1 in 4 call-out rota to provide out-of-hours engineering support.
Requirements
- Previous experience as a Lead Engineer, Electrical Engineer, or Senior Maintenance Engineer within a commercial building services environment.
- City & Guilds, NVQ Level 3, or equivalent qualification in Electrical Installation.
- Current 18th Edition Wiring Regulations.
- Strong electrical fault-finding and building services maintenance experience.
- Good working knowledge of mechanical plant and general building services.
- Previous experience supervising engineers or mentoring junior members of a team is desirable.
- Excellent communication, organisational, and client-facing skills.
- Full right to work in the UK.
