An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Sealing Project Engineer to join a highly innovative automotive engineering environment, supporting the development of next-generation vehicle body systems and closures. This role sits within a specialist Body Engineering team responsible for the design and development of vehicle sealing systems, closures, glazing and body components. The successful candidate will take ownership of sealing commodities from concept through to launch, ensuring delivery against quality, cost and timing objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the delivery of sealing commodities across vehicle programmes
- Create and manage engineering releases and technical documentation
- Define and deliver system and component performance targets
- Drive DFMEA, lessons learnt and failure prevention activities
- Lead cross-functional design and assembly reviews
- Work closely with manufacturing, programme and supplier teams to ensure engineering feasibility
- Support virtual and physical build activities from issue identification through to resolution
- Manage CAD workload and interface coordination across internal and external teams
- Develop high-quality engineering information documentation to support purchasing and supplier quotation activities
- Lead root cause analysis and resolution of complex engineering issues
- Support development of rigs and validation activities for Failure Mode Avoidance processes
Required Experience
- Significant experience within automotive sealing engineering
- Strong understanding of sealing systems, manufacturing techniques and relevant legislation
- Experience working within high-pressure pre-production and vehicle launch environments
- Ability to manage multiple stakeholders across engineering and programme teams
- Strong communication and presentation skills
Desirable Skills
- Knowledge of Siemens NX and TeamCenter
- Experience with Failure Mode Avoidance methodologies
- Familiarity with automotive product creation and launch processes
- Proficient with Microsoft Office tools including Excel and PowerPoint
