The Design Engineer will be responsible for supporting the development and delivery of design, engineering, and manufacturing solutions for high-end, ultra-premium automotive programmes. Working under the guidance of the Lead Project Engineers, the role involves contributing to the scoping, design, and development of engineering solutions critical to the successful execution of exclusive vehicle projects for leading global automotive brands.

We are partners on ultra-premium, low-volume programmes delivering vehicle programmes for the ultra-exclusive, ultra-high-value automotive sector for automotive brands such as Mercedes-AMG, McLaren, Ford GT, Aston Martin, Pininfarina, Gordon Murray and many more on such vehicles as, amongst others, the Mercedes AMG-ONE, Pininfarina’s Battista and Aston Martin’s Valkyrie Pro.
In addition we deliver full vehicle development, including chassis and powertrain, to high net-worth heritage racers via our heritage racing division, ADP Classic Racing. We restore and rebuild high-end classic racing cars, prepare drivers, manage a programme of touring and racing, and provide full event support.
Roles and Responsibilities
This role is based at our Witham engineering facility.
- Design components and complete modules to meet performance, weight, and cost targets, in line with programme requirements.
- Definition of fixing, location strategy & part breakout
- Control & creation of Meta data – Part Numbers, Materials etc
- Design manufacturing tooling and fixtures to support efficient and accurate component production.
- Collaborate closely with the styling team to ensure engineering feasibility while maintaining design intent.
- Report to the Programme Director and provide regular updates on design status, risks, and issues.
- Contribute to the development of new design techniques, materials, and processes to improve product performance and manufacturability.
Provide hands-on technical support during prototype and production vehicle builds. - Liaise effectively with internal teams, including Manufacturing, Engineering, and Purchasing, as well as with external suppliers.
- Represent the design team in internal and external design reviews, and support test and development activities when required.
- Support team members by providing technical guidance and mentorship where appropriate.
- Hold full engineering responsibility (including design and release) for vehicle interior systems, including but not limited to:
- Facia
- Seating systems
- Restraints
- Instruments and controls
- Lower and rear trim
- Closure trim
Qualifications, Skills and Experience Required
Degree in Mechanical, Automotive, or Aeronautical Engineering is preferred, but not essential with sufficient relevant experience.
Ability to produce both detailed part and tool drawings to a high standard.
At least 5 years of experience in the automotive sector, ideally focused on interior systems.
Experience with exterior systems is advantageous.
Prior involvement in module packaging and integration is desirable.
Understanding of tooling design principles and manufacturing constraints.
Familiarity with composites lay-up processes is a plus, though not essential.
Calm under pressure, with strong problem-solving capabilities.
Professional, accountable, and proactive mindset, with a consistently helpful attitude.
Strong communication skills and the ability to give and receive constructive feedback.
Capable of collaborating effectively and negotiating diplomatically with colleagues and stakeholders.
Strong literacy, numeracy, and general IT proficiency.
Minimum of 3 years continuous experience using CATIA V5, with strong capability in:
Generative Shape Design
Part Design
Assembly Design

The role requires a flexible approach, with the ability to adapt to business needs. While the key responsibilities cover the main duties of the role, additional tasks aligned with the general scope and level of responsibility may be required.
£32,000 – £50,000 commensurate with experience.
