Role Overview
As a Carpentry Apprentice, you will support the design and build of our Exhibition Stands. Working alongside experienced production staff, you will develop practical woodworking and construction skills in a fast-paced and creative environment. You will attend training sessions as part of your apprenticeship programme while gaining valuable on-the-job experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with the construction of exhibition stands, staging, scenic elements, and bespoke event builds.
- Learn to interpret technical drawings, plans, and measurements.
- Use hand and power tools safely and effectively.
- Support workshop preparation, including material handling and stock organisation.
- Assist with onsite installations and breakdowns at venues across the UK when required.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organised working environment.
- Follow all health & safety procedures and company policies.
- Work collaboratively with workshop, production, and project teams.
- Develop knowledge of different materials including timber, MDF, laminates, and exhibition systems.
- Complete apprenticeship coursework and attend all training sessions.
Skills Required:
- Genuine interest in carpentry, construction, or set building.
- Positive attitude and willingness to learn.
- Good practical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work well as part of a team.
- Reliable, punctual, and hardworking.
- Basic understanding of health & safety practices.
- Good communication skills.
Desirables:
- GCSEs (or equivalent) in Maths and English (Grade 4/C or above preferred).
- Previous workshop, DIY, or construction experience.
- Interest in events, exhibitions, theatre, or creative production.
- Full UK driving licence (or willingness to work towards obtaining one).
