Role – Social Care Worker (Day) (Older People Residential)
Location – Citywide
Salary – Starting hourly rate Β£17.84 – see attached further breakdown
Hours and Shift Pattern – 24 hours per week, 12 hour shifts – see attached further breakdown of shifts

If you are looking for a career which makes a positive difference, then being a Social Care Worker in one of our care homes for older people could be for you.Our Glasgow City Care Homes provide care and support in enabling surroundings to our residents 24/7 where you would work 12 hour shifts.

As a Social Care Worker, you will work as part of a team with direction from Senior staff to provide direct care and support to older people living within our residential care homes. You will work collaboratively with residents, finding out what matters to them, in order to create and deliver a plan of care that is enabling and person-centred. Other duties include supporting, organising and deploying staff to provide direct care to residents.

Previous experience of working with vulnerable adults / older people is essential. You must be able to work without direct supervision. You should hold values which promote the wellbeing of older people, have a desire to support others with compassion, kindness whilst respecting their rights and choices within their daily lives.

You must be competent in English both written and spoken and be conversant with Health and Safety at Work legislation. Applications are welcome from ethnic minorities and fluent speakers of other languages – Cantonese, Hakka, Punjabi, Urdu.

This role will require you to have or to have the ability to undertake and attain a SVQ Level 2 qualification in Health and Social Care or equivalent, to meet the requirements of registration to the Scottish Social Services Council. Glasgow City Council will provide support and meet the cost for undertaking this qualification.

Membership of the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme is essential on taking up appointment. Please note successful candidates for the above role will be required to pay for their PVG Membership.

Registration to the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) is an essential requirement for this role. You must either be already registered or have applied within 3 months and be registered within 6 months from your start date. Please note as part of the local government pay deal, local authority staff are currently not required to pay SSSC fees.

These roles are excepted under Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exclusions and Exceptions) (Scotland) Order 2013 (as amended).
