We are seeking an enthusiastic, highly motivated and forward-thinking Occupational Therapist to work with a multidisciplinary team. The position attracts the post holder to act independently to manage the caseload.
Job Purpose:
- Deliver Occupational therapy interventions to patients at their homes and Care homes as a part of a Multidisciplinary team.
- To demonstrate leadership for a clinical team, which includes conducting an annual appraisal, clinical supervision, induction when necessary, and training and education.
- To maintain clinical records in accordance with Data Protection and professional standards.
- Participate in the planning and development of the department and evaluate the implemented programs.
- To collaborate with a multidisciplinary team and liaise with NHS colleagues, voluntary agencies, local authorities, GPs, and other social care agencies.
Job Responsibilities:
- To independently assess and analyse individual patients to determine their needs for occupational therapy intervention using clinical reasoning and evidence-based practice.
- To be an autonomous practitioner demonstrate self-management skills and take personal responsibility for professional performance like lone working.
- Identify and assess occupational therapy needs, gather a wide range of information, and analyse through observational interviews.
- Ability to use standardised and non-standardised assessment tools to identify the areas of occupational and functional needs of self-care.
- Considers the range of interventions that are appropriate, such as developing and initiating individual occupational therapy interventions, which could be utilised taking into account the unique and specific therapeutic needs of clients.
- Ability to apply fine motor skills to include high levels of dexterity and hand-eye coordination.
- Based on the assessment and analysis, negotiate with patients and agree on the goals and priorities of intervention and the methods to be adopted in relation to self-care, productivity and leisure.
- Demonstrate effective communication skills both internal and external to the team as well as effective verbal and non-verbal communication.
- Support the Lead Therapist and Clinical Service Manager in their operational roles and functions.
Management and Other skills:
- Ability to manage, monitor and evaluate the team and the service provided.
- Demonstrate IT skills in order to present the reports and maintain database.
- Ability to participate in clinical audits, collect data and interpret statistics in regard to the performance.
- Share knowledge and skills through effective training and the ability to deliver presentations.
- Maintain up to date knowledge and understanding of health service and the ability to hold a profile with continuous professional development.
