Do you live in the South of Glasgow and looking to join our Home Care team? We are currently recruiting to Home Carer roles across the South area of Glasgow Health and Social Care partnership (GHSCP).

Role – Home Carer
Location – Glasgow South
Salary – you could earn between £14.20 – £15.57 per hour, this will depend on the shift pattern allocated to you
Hours and Shift Pattern – we have various hours and shift patterns available which are detailed below:

7 days on / 7 days off = Week 1 – Mon to Sun and Week 2 – Off
5 days on / 2 days on = Week 1 – Mon/Tues/Wed/Sat/Sun and Week 2 – Thurs/Fri
4 days on / 3 days on = Week 1 – Mon/Tues/Sat/Sun and Week 2 – Wed/Thurs/Fri
Due to the nature of this role and function, there is a requirement for you to work Public Holidays.

At GHSCP our home carers provide a lifeline which allows vulnerable citizens of Glasgow to remain independently in their own homes for longer.

Your key tasks include providing intimate personal care to vulnerable service users which can include washing, bathing, showering, dressing, and shaving. Providing support with meal preparation, you will be using items such as a cooker, oven, microwave, and air fryer. Each service user is an individual and their dietary preferences reflect this, you will be required to prepare meals with meat products including pork. Assisting with medication and using specialist equipment, our highly trained home carers deliver a vital service which enhances the quality of service users\’ lives. No previous experience or qualifications are necessary. We provide all new staff with a robust 10-day induction which includes eight days of learning at our training centre and two days of shadowing our home care team. This forms the start of your employment journey therefore you must be available to complete the full 10-day induction which is full time Monday to Friday, 9am to 4pm. Our in-house training gives you the required skills and confidence to enable you to begin your career as a home carer.

The role requires you to have or to have the ability to undertake and attain a SVQ Level 2 qualification in Health and Social Care or equivalent, to meet the requirements of registration to the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC). We will provide support and meet the cost for undertaking this qualification. Registration to the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) is an essential requirement for this role. You must either be already registered or have applied within 3 months and be registered within 6 months from your start date.

Please be aware, successful candidates may require to travel across allocated area due to service requirements.

Membership of the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme is essential on taking up appointment. Please note successful candidates for the above position will be required to pay for their PVG Membership/or Scheme Checks.
