Job Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated Gynaecology Outpatients Nurse to join our team. In this vital role, you will assess, plan, and implement specialist gynaecological care in consultation with the multidisciplinary team. You will be a direct point of contact for patients during their appointments, providing expert advice on various treatments and procedures while acting as a patient advocate.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Patient Care Delivery: Assess, plan, and implement specialist gynaecological care, supervising treatments administered by junior staff.
- Clinical Support: Act as a direct point of contact for patients, providing advice on treatments and diagnostic tests, and assisting clinicians in the clinic.
- Communication: Ensure clear and appropriate verbal and written communication with patients, carers, and the multidisciplinary team. Act as a patient advocate, overcoming communication barriers where necessary.
- Documentation: Provide accurate and contemporaneous documentation of patient care in accordance with Trust and national policies.
- Collaboration: Participate in gynaecology ward rounds, discharge planning, and other multidisciplinary team meetings.
- Safety & Governance: Ensure infection control procedures and cleanliness are maintained. Adhere to the NMC Code of Professional Conduct and the Trust's governance frameworks.
Professional Development and Leadership:
- Act as a role model, delegating tasks and workload appropriately to junior team members.
- Assist with the induction and support of new colleagues, students, and newly qualified staff.
- Be accountable for your own practice, maintaining professional knowledge and attending all mandatory training.
