I\’m hiring a Design Engineer for a highly respected developer tools company building software used inside mission-critical, data-heavy applications.

This role sits inside the design team and is ideal for a senior frontend engineer who cares about craft, usability and consistency and enjoys working shoulder-to-shoulder with designers.

What you’ll work on

You’ll help the design team ship production-quality frontend work, primarily across the company’s website and external-facing surfaces (built with Astro + React). You’ll also support occasional product prototyping, examples and theming work, but this is not a core library engineering role.

What you’ll do

• Implementing high-quality, accessible UI from Figma into production
• Owning and evolving the frontend architecture of the website and external surfaces
• Designing and maintaining a componentised design system (tokens, patterns, reusable components)
• Improving consistency, modularity, and scalability across marketing and documentation pages
• Supporting designers by translating interaction ideas into working prototypes
• Building examples, demos, and resources that help users understand complex products
• Collaborating closely with designers, product, and engineers through fast feedback loops
• Raising the bar for UI quality, responsiveness, and maintainability

What we’re looking for

• Excellent HTML, CSS, layout, and responsive design fundamentals
• Solid experience with React (Astro a bonus)
• Proven experience building or owning design systems or shared component libraries
• Good understanding of the DOM, rendering behaviour, and frontend performance
• A collaborative mindset and experience working closely with designers
• Experience supporting marketing or content teams via reusable frontend systems
• Familiarity with accessibility standards (WCAG) and inclusive design principles
• Experience prototyping interactions directly in code
• Comfort working in a low-process, high-autonomy environment
• Exposure to data-heavy or developer-facing products

Working style

Hybrid with a strong in-office culture: 3 days a week expected. You’ll sit close to the design lead and work in a highly collaborative environment.
