Overview
I’m working with a fast-growing, highly operational start-up that supports thousands of carers and nurses. They’re hiring a VP of Engineering to lead ~30 engineers (plus a dedicated IT function), with a CPO already in place and a clear product roadmap. The real challenge and opportunity is building and scaling AI agents across the business, with a long-term ambition of AI generating the majority of production code.
Key responsibilities
- Lead, scale and reshape the engineering function.
- Move very quickly to build and release features.
- Drive the adoption of AI driven development.
- Make decisive changes to the team, including replacing underperforming engineers and hiring quickly.
This role will suit someone who
- Thrives within a startup environment.
- Moves fast and enjoys high-pressure environments.
- Is still technically hands-on or who understands code.
- Is comfortable reshaping teams, making tough calls, and hiring at speed.
- Has real experience operating in AI-first engineering environments.
They ideally want someone in the office one day a week in London but can potentially be flexible.
