We’re hiring a Senior Data Journalist to work directly with senior stakeholders at a company building one of the world’s largest data platforms. This role is focused on uncovering insights from complex, messy real-world data, combining investigative thinking, validation, and technical analysis to surface meaningful stories, patterns, and risks. You’ll be working with large-scale global company and ownership datasets, helping interrogate, validate, and explain data that powers investigative research, AI systems, and commercial intelligence products. This is not a traditional newsroom role. It’s ideal for someone who enjoys digging into difficult datasets, questioning assumptions, validating findings, and using technology to support deep investigative work.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Investigating and validating complex company and ownership data
  • Working with messy, multi-source datasets to identify inconsistencies, anomalies, and hidden connections
  • Using SQL and Python to analyse, clean, and interrogate data
  • Applying investigative techniques across structured and unstructured information
  • Collaborating with technical and non-technical stakeholders to turn findings into clear outputs
  • Exploring how AI and LLM tools can support research, validation, and investigative workflows
  • Helping improve how data is structured, interpreted, and trusted across the platform

What they’re looking for:

  • Strong SQL and Python skills
  • Background in data journalism, investigative research, OSINT, analytics, or data-focused reporting
  • Experience working with complex or unreliable datasets
  • Strong attention to detail and a sceptical, investigative mindset
  • Someone who cares about accuracy, methodology, and real-world meaning behind the data
  • Bonus: experience with corporate, financial, regulatory, risk, or ownership data

Remote £100k–£150k
