TechShack is working with a well-backed digital asset firm building the next era of payments – software that gives businesses a single, real-time view across digital-asset and traditional fiat balances, with reconciliation, controls and dashboards spanning digital asset and fiat rails. They're scaling fast, and they run a genuinely engineering-led culture with infrastructure and engineering at the helm. This will be a lead hire with potential reports in the future. They want a senior engineer who can be trusted to own a core part of the infra stack outright – and then build a small team underneath them as the platform grows.
What you'll own:
- Production Kubernetes across bare-metal and AWS: clusters, upgrades, security and performance.
- The bare-metal and Linux server fleet: provisioning, tuning and hardware-level reliability.
- Monitoring, logging, alerting and full-stack observability that engineers actually trust.
- Fast, reproducible, safe CI/CD: canaries, progressive rollouts, clean rollbacks.
- Networking and edge: TCP/IP, DNS, TLS, load balancing and Cloudflare (caching, routing, edge security).
- Resilience and recovery: defining SLOs/SLIs, leading incidents and postmortems, and designing out single points of failure.
Who we're looking for:
- 5 to 10 years operating production infrastructure at a senior level.
- Deep, hands-on Kubernetes (internals, networking, storage, security) alongside real bare-metal and AWS experience.
- Strong Linux and networking fundamentals, and the instinct to debug across the entire stack.
- Infrastructure-as-code and automation, observability tooling, reliable CI/CD and CDN/edge (Cloudflare) optimisation.
- Calm and methodical in incidents; you assume things fail and build accordingly; you favour long-term stability over quick fixes.
- Web3 / crypto experience is a bonus, not a must; genuine interest is enough.
- Multi-cluster / multi-region, high-throughput or data-heavy systems, Elasticsearch, service meshes, capacity planning / cost optimisation, and regulated or reliability-focused environments.
Location: Hybrid in central London, flexible on days and times. Open to a few other core EU cities.
Compensation: Basic up to £150k + equity.
