Recruitment Consultant at TechShack London. Senior - Lead Backend Developer | Node, Typescript, MongoDB | Hybrid, up to £90k

We’re looking for a highly experienced Backend Developer to join a fast-growing, ambitious start-up. This is a chance to design and build robust, scalable systems that power a product with real impact. You’ll be working closely with cross-functional teams to develop high-performance APIs, manage databases, and implement cloud-based solutions, all while shaping the backend architecture from the ground up.

What you’ll be responsible for

  • Architect, build, and maintain backend services using Node.js and TypeScript
  • Develop scalable, high-performance APIs with Nest.js and Express.js
  • Design, optimize, and manage PostgreSQL and MongoDB databases with Prisma
  • Implement REST and GraphQL endpoints and support real-time communication via WebSockets
  • Apply security best practices for authentication and authorization (JWT, OAuth, etc.)
  • Integrate caching and messaging using Redis (Pub/Sub)
  • Manage containerized applications using Docker and orchestrate with Kubernetes
  • Automate infrastructure provisioning with Terraform and manage CI/CD pipelines
  • Deploy and maintain applications on AWS, GCP, or Azure, including storage solutions like S3

Who we’re looking for

  • Strong expertise in Node.js and TypeScript
  • Experience with frameworks Nest.js, Express.js, and ORMs such as Prisma
  • Confident building RESTful and GraphQL APIs and real-time features with WebSockets
  • Skilled in implementing robust security and authentication measures
  • Knowledgeable in automated testing with Jest, Mocha, or Postman
  • Comfortable with cloud infrastructure, containerization, and CI/CD (AWS/GCP/Azure, Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform)
  • Bonus: experience with microservices, event-driven architectures, or serverless platforms
