Techolony’s Built Environment division is expanding its electrical engineering capability in the south of England to support a growing pipeline of complex UK project work. The work is outside of IR35 and so the project tasks dictate the location, and you will not be required to work on a specific site unless your work dictates the need.

We are looking to engage experienced Senior level Electrical Engineering contractors who can contribute to technically demanding design and consultancy assignments across highly regulated, safety-critical and infrastructure-led environments. The work will suit engineers who are comfortable operating across the project lifecycle, from early-stage optioneering and feasibility through to detailed design, construction support, site reviews and operational handover.

The Role

You will support the delivery of electrical design and consultancy services on behalf of Techolony. Typical responsibilities will include:

  • Producing electrical design documentation, including drawings, specifications, technical schedules and reports
  • Carrying out or supporting site surveys, technical assessments and design reviews
  • Supporting construction-phase activity, including responding to technical queries and reviewing installation quality
  • Liaising with client teams, design partners, contractors and multi-disciplinary project stakeholders
  • Reviewing calculations, drawings and technical outputs for accuracy, compliance and quality
  • Helping ensure designs are safe, practical, buildable and aligned to the project brief
  • Supporting cost awareness, change control, risk identification and project progress reporting
  • Working collaboratively with other engineering disciplines to deliver coordinated design solutions
  • Maintaining awareness of CDM obligations and design-stage safety responsibilities

Projects may involve resilient power, complex building services, infrastructure environments and regulated sector delivery, including areas such as nuclear, defence, energy and other safety-led project settings.

What We Need From You

We are looking for contractors who can bring strong technical judgement, clear communication and the confidence to take ownership of design outputs. You should be able to demonstrate:

  • Significant experience in electrical building services or electrical infrastructure design
  • Strong technical detailing, specification writing and design documentation capability
  • The ability to check your own work and review outputs produced by others
  • Experience working within integrated, multi-disciplinary design environments
  • A practical understanding of project delivery, design coordination and stakeholder management
  • Awareness of technical assurance, quality control and compliance processes
  • Commercial awareness, including the ability to identify risks, issues or scope concerns early
  • A proactive approach to escalating concerns and recommending sensible solutions

Technical Skills & Tools

Experience with some or all of the following would be beneficial:

  • BIM Level 2 delivery environments
  • Navisworks
  • AutoCAD
  • NBS
  • Amtech / Trimble
  • Electrical OM or similar electrical design software
  • Electrical calculations, design reports, technical schedules and specification production

Qualifications & Clearance

Ideally, candidates will hold or be working towards Chartered Engineer status. Due to the nature of some client environments, candidates must be eligible to obtain and maintain appropriate UK security clearance, including SC clearance as a minimum where required. Anyone who is not a UK citizen or is a dual citizen will not be eligible for these opportunities.

Opportunity Summary

This is an opportunity to support Techolony’s Built Environment division on complex, high-value UK projects where engineering quality, safety, resilience and technical assurance are critical. We welcome interest from experienced Senior and Principal Electrical Engineers available for contract assignments across multiple UK locations.
