Role Description
A highly experienced and qualified ECI Engineer with extensive experience and expertise in designing complex bespoke hardware for heavy machinery control systems, as well as the associated field equipment. As part of a multi-disciplinary project team, the primary objective will be to be responsible for the overall Electrical design scope of a project. You will be instrumental in ensuring that ECI within your business unit adheres to the procedures and guidelines. To ensure the project milestones for the design and supply of control systems are met, it is imperative that you play an integral role within the team.
As part of the electrical design team, you will provide continuous improvement and evolution by promoting a team spirit where issues and problems are to be learned from and overcome. Assist in the continuous improvement of systems and processes in the pursuit of efficiency and best practices, as well as the transmission of knowledge to young and developing engineers.
Role Responsibilities
- Production of technical documentation (Cable Calcs, FDS, HDS, SDS) and OM Manuals
- Design of electrical control systems using the AutoCAD Electrical platform to meet customer specifications.
- Complete Designers Risk Assessments to BS EN 12100
- Make BOM for the procurement department.
- Specification selection of components to be used in the control system.
- Carry out independent checking of electrical schematics, GA\’s BOMs and calculations.
- Lead the ECI engineering output, delivering technical solutions which satisfy the client\’s requirements.
- Draw on comprehensive technical knowledge to develop customer solutions.
- Demonstrate a sound understanding of IEE Wiring Regulations and other relevant standards, regulations, codes and directives that apply to their work, i.e. EN60204, EN13849
- Shall work autonomously on a limited range of clearly defined engineering subjects requiring guidance in specialist areas from others.
- Aware of Health and Safety requirements associated with engineering solutions and Projects.
- Aware of existing technologies within the ECI discipline.
- Support technical solutions at design reviews.
- Capable of independent and autonomous work in the delivery of engineering activities.
- Shall be aware of Environmental impact throughout the Design process.
- Supervise Engineers, Graduates and Draughtsmen in executing work packages.
- Able to recognise the limits of technical understanding of self and the team and seek direction when required.
- Successful and consistent planning and delivery of work packages within defined scopes.
- Support technical design proposals as part of the Tendering Process.
- Have a commercial and project awareness, being able to accurately estimate time to complete tasks.
- Understanding of the impact of scope changes and implementing change control.
- Should have working knowledge and implement Quality Management Systems appreciating the engineering operations required for quality control procedures and Work Instructions.
- Understanding of identify, assess and mitigate design risks throughout the design/product life cycle.
- Awareness of implications of Engineering Design Risks to installation, and commissioning.
