We are looking for a Network Engineer for one of our renowned IT clients based in Guildford, UK. Contract: 6 months duration. Onsite.
Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Network Engineer with strong expertise in enterprise network security and data centre networking. The role involves supporting, enhancing, and securing complex, high-availability network environments, as well as leading key initiatives such as upgrades, migrations, and incident resolution. The ideal candidate will have deep hands-on experience with security technologies, excellent troubleshooting skills, and the ability to work independently while collaborating with global teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and support secure enterprise network infrastructure.
- Configure, manage, and troubleshoot network security platforms and appliances.
- Lead network install, upgrade, migration, and decommissioning activities.
- Handle major network incidents and contribute to root cause analysis documentation.
- Ensure high availability, performance, and security across distributed environments.
- Perform packet analysis and advanced troubleshooting using industry-standard tools.
- Collaborate with cross-functional and global teams to deliver network changes.
- Provide guidance and mentorship to junior engineers.
- Maintain clear technical documentation and operational procedures.
Required Skills & Experience
Technical Skills
- Cisco ISE (Expert Level): Authentication policies, authorization profiles, device profiling, certificate management and device onboarding.
- Cisco ASA / Firepower (FTD): VPN, NAT, ACLs, routing, clustering, Firepower Management Center (FMC), packet tracing.
- Check Point R80.x: SmartConsole, VPN, IPS, rule optimization and high availability / clustering.
- F5 APM: Access policy creation, VPN configuration, SAML / OAuth integrations.
- Data Centre Switching & Routing: Cisco Nexus (5K / 7K / 9K), VLANs, vPC, OSPF / BGP fundamentals.
- Packet Analysis Tools: Wireshark, tcpdump.
- Cloud Networking: Exposure to AWS and/or Azure networking (desirable).
- Automation & Scripting: Python, Ansible (preferred but not mandatory).
Professional Experience
- 6β10+ years of hands-on experience in enterprise network security.
- Proven experience working in large-scale, distributed, high-availability environments.
- Strong background in managing complex network transformation projects.
- Experience leading and resolving major incidents in production environments.
Soft Skills
