The predicted salary is between 43200 - 72000 £ per year.
Our client, a leading UK law firm, is seeking a new Head of Risk & Compliance to lead its established Risk & Compliance team. With offices across London, Cambridge, Reading, and Southampton.
Location: Contractually based from either Reading, Cambridge or Southampton (2 days per week). When required, occasional travel to non-contracted offices will be expensed.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the firm’s compliance and risk management frameworks in line with UK regulatory requirements.
- Oversee key areas including ALM, Data Protection, Anti-Bribery, Conflicts, and professional indemnity.
- Manage and mentor a cross-office Risk & Compliance team.
- Chair quarterly Risk Meetings and oversee implementation of compliance actions.
- Handle regulatory audits and support engagement with the SRA, Legal Ombudsman, and insurers.
- Maintain critical registers (Gifts & Hospitality, Data Breach) and oversee insurance renewals and supplier management.
- Develop and deliver firmwide Risk & Compliance training.
Key Skills / Requirements:
- Proven experience leading a law firm’s Risk & Compliance department at either Manager, Senior Manager or Head of level.
- Deep knowledge of SRA Standards & Regulations, AML legislation, PEPs, sanctions, and complex client structures.
- Strong understanding of regulatory risk, insurance, data privacy, complaints, and professional conduct.
- Exceptional communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills.
