Job Purpose

The Spoolbase QA/QC Engineer is responsible for implementing, maintaining and continuously improving Quality Assurance and Quality Control activities across the Spoolbase. The role ensures compliance with TechnipFMC Quality Management Systems, customer requirements, industry standards and project-specific specifications.

The role acts as the primary Quality Assurance focal point for the facility, providing support to for quality management leadership, governance, audit compliance, continuous improvement and lessons learned initiatives.

In addition, the role supports the QC Lead in the planning, coordination, reporting and execution of project-specific inspection and quality activities, ensuring that inspection records, quality documentation, fabrication dossiers and quality performance metrics are effectively managed and communicated to both project stakeholders and VSO Quality Management.

Job Description

  • Implement and maintain TechnipFMC’s Quality Management System at the Spoolbase.
  • Ensure alignment with industry regulation (ISO, etc.) and project specific requirements.
  • Provide guidance to the QC/QA team ensuring adherence to quality standards.
  • Act as the primary QC/QA representative in project meeting, client interactions and regulatory engagements.
  • Plan and conduct internal and external audits, ensuring compliance with relevant quality certification.
  • Manage non-conformance, lead root cause investigation and implement corrective/preventive actions.
  • Monitor and report on quality performance.
  • Ensure proper handling and validation of welding and inspection documentation.
  • Collaborate with procurement, suppliers, and subcontractors to ensure quality compliance.
  • Facilitate training and onboarding to strengthen quality competencies across the organization.
  • Capture and analyse Lessons Learned to drive future improvements.
  • Support global quality transformation efforts and contribute to cross-site alignment.
  • Support Quality Document Controller & QC Lead, ensuring quality documentation, inspection processes, and defect resolution are aligned with overarching quality objectives.
  • Act as primary quality representative, liaising between internal teams, subcontractors, suppliers, and customers.
  • Support the QC Lead with planning and coordination of spoolbase QC inspection activities.
  • Review project specific ITPs, procedures and quality requirements prior to project start-up.
  • Participate in readiness reviews, kick-off meetings and project quality planning sessions.
  • Support compilation and review of manufacturing and inspection dossiers.
  • Monitor status of project quality deliverables and report progress to project teams.
  • Provide oversight and guidance on welding, NDE, coating and inspection documentation requirements.
  • Lead customer, third-party and certification audits at the Spoolbase.
  • Develop site quality improvement initiatives and quality culture programmes.
  • Provide quality metrics, trends and performance reporting to VSO Quality leadership.
  • Support competency development and mentoring of QC personnel.
  • Act as quality focal point during absence of the QC Lead for agreed delegated activities.

You are meant for this job if:

  • Technical engineering degree (B.Sc./M.Sc.), with specialization in quality management, manufacturing, or production engineering.
  • Relevant work experience can compensate for lack of formal education.
  • Experience in QA/QC leadership, ideally in project-based manufacturing environments with strict quality requirements.
  • Expertise in ISO and industry-specific quality regulations.
  • knowledge of Management of Change, Risk Management, Problem Solving & RCA techniques
  • Knowledge in External/Internal Audit and process verification
  • Knowledge quality standards & quality requirements
  • Knowledge of external quality regulations and standards
  • Knowledge of RCA Methodologies
