Job Purpose
To provide technical support to electrical and instrumentation systems installed throughout Technip FMC vessels and sites, lead projects and act as system technical authority.
Job Description
- Act as a specialist in their field of expertise to enhance the efficiency of the company fleet
- Develop procedures to control the effective utilisation of electrical and instrument systems
• Liaise with vessels to
- Install and maintain electrical and instrument systems
- Provide technical support for all users
- Coordinate E&I system hardware and software upgrades
- Interface with training department to ensure competence of offshore personnel in the use of equipment and software for upgraded and modified electrical installations
- Ensure compatibility of systems
- Liaise with stores or 3rd party suppliers to ensure timely forwarding of critical upgrades, spares and equipment
- That E&I system software and equipment faults are reported and suitable corrective action is taken
- Responsible for all budgets for electrical and instrumentation upgrades or maintenance, ensure extensive controls are implemented and regular reporting is provided
- Shall be responsible for mentoring electrical and instrumentation engineer and ensuring adequate training and experience is provided to assist in his / her development
- To ensure the operation, modification and maintenance of electrical and instrumentation systems associated with company assets / vessels are fully operational and in compliance with current legislation
- Review and ensure appropriate, fit for purpose nature of essential vessel documentation, including marine assurance documents, DP manual, DP FMECA and incident close out documents
- Liaise and support across other technical disciplines for all instrumentation and electrical issues
- Support and feed into conceptual design studies for new assets to ensure the electrical infrastructure is fit for purpose and comprehensively considered including technical review of major upgrade and life extension options

- Relevant experience of managing projects including design project management and direct management of sub-contractors on marine electrical systems
- Management of marine electrical systems, including high voltage and power generation. Direct management of marine electrical projects
- Knowledgeable of all industry developments and be familiar with legislation
- Nice To Have
- HNC / HND or degree qualification in electrical engineering
- Knowledge of vessel electrical / instrumentation equipment and operating routines
- Extensive experience in offshore / marine industry
- Experience of operating, maintaining and commissioning HV and LV power distribution equipment
- Knowledge of planned maintenance systems
- Experience in project management (cost control, schedules, planning)
- Knowledge of DP, navigation and bridge equipment
- Familiar with classification society regulations for marine installations
- Knowledge of FMEA and FMECA processes
- Excellent computer and IT skills, including MS project
- Experience of equipment design, drawings, documentation
