Job Purpose
A Wellhead Workshop Technician Level 1 is an entry-to-junior level position responsible for the inspection, disassembly, maintenance, repair, assembly, and testing of wellhead equipment and Christmas tree components. They work under supervision to prepare, clean, and pressure-test equipment to ensure API 6A standards and operational integrity. A Wellhead Technician is responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing wellhead equipment used in oil and gas extraction. They ensure that wellheads operate safely and efficiently by performing inspections, troubleshooting issues, and replacing defective components.
Job Description
- Maintenance & Repair: Performing disassembly, cleaning, inspection, polishing, and refurbishment of wellhead components (gate valves, actuators, hangers, seals).
- Pressure Testing: Conducting hydrostatic testing (body and seat tests) on valves and tools, ensuring proper, calibrated equipment is used, if required only.
- Technical Documentation: Following work/Service orders, reading assembly prints/drawings, and completing documentation for repaired equipment.
- Equipment Preparation: Assembling and preparing wellhead systems for field installation.
- Workshop Safety: Maintaining a clean and organized work environment and following strict Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) standards.
- Quality Control: Using gauging equipment to verify component dimensions and integrity.
You are meant for this job if:
- Experience: Generally, 1+ years of experience in maintenance, in oilfield service, mechanical, or workshop environments is preferable, but enthusiastic fresh graduates are also welcome who are keen to expand their growth.
- Technical Knowledge: Knowledge/use of tools, equipment and techniques. Basic understanding of wellhead, Xmas tree, and valve designs, as well as API 6A standards is preferable.
- Technical Skills: Ability to read drawings, use measuring tools, and operate hydraulic tools.
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent technical diploma. A diploma or certificate in a relevant technical field (mechanical) will be preferred.
- Physical/Operational: Must be able to follow detailed procedures and work in a team environment. English language is a must.
