Overview
In this role you will serve as the technical authority for MV/HV submarine cable design within TechnipFMC’s R&D team, advancing offshore wind and hybrid power umbilical solutions. You will lead design, development and maintenance of cable products, set design rules and standards, and support cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality, cost-efficient technology. You will also mentor engineers and drive R&D activities to strengthen the company’s market position. This is a hands-on, impact-driven senior position with opportunities to shape product capabilities.

Responsibilities
- Provide technical leadership on MV/HV submarine cables within the R&D team
- Lead, manage, deliver and document R&D projects related to cable design
- Develop and maintain cable design rules and associated documentation
- Set standards for technical reports and documentation
- Perform cable design calculations and studies
- Liaise with internal/external clients and suppliers as appropriate
- Provide technical support and guidance across the lifecycle of products
- Identify technical risks and review client specifications
- Handle non-conformances and concessions in design rules and projects
- Mentor engineers and support development of new technologies, templates, calculations and tools
- Assist with complying with group/team objectives
- Participate in training and knowledge transfer across teams
Key requirements
- Engineering degree (preferably Electrical or Mechanical); Physics also acceptable
- Chartered Engineer status or demonstrable progress toward it
- Extensive HV submarine cable experience in offshore wind/oil&gas
- Strong knowledge of submarine cable construction, ratings, manufacturing, installation and operation
- Familiarity with IEC standards and CIGRE recommendations
- Proven problem-solving ability in fast-paced environments
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
