Job Purpose
The Flexilay Senior Technician reports to the Technician Supervisor and the Chief Pipelay Engineer (CPE). The Senior Technician is expected to take a leading role during project operations, maintenance tasks and in all activities carried out by the team. The Senior Technician provides technical advice and guidance to the Technicians as needed. They are fully conversant with policies, procedures, systems and standards in place at the Company worksite. In their role the Senior Technician assists the team on behalf of the Technician Supervisor to ensure that the maintenance plan is executed effectively and that all necessary records are kept up to date.
Job Description
- Responsible for the maintenance of all installed hydraulic, mechanical, electrical and control system powered systems to ensure safe and efficient operation.
- Diligently carry out any tasks assigned by the Technician Supervisor in a safe and efficient manner.
- Become familiar with the hydraulic, mechanical, electrical machinery and systems under your control.
- Maintain a comprehensive understanding of Company procedures, policies and instructions.
- Assist with survey work as required by the Technician Supervisor or the CPE.
- Operate Flexilay equipment in maintenance mode and during project operations.
- Provide assistance to the Technician Trainee operator as needed.
- Assist any Technician as directed by the Technician Supervisor or the CPE.
- Ensure all records are accurate and comprehensive, maintaining up to date maintenance records, manuals and drawings.
- Provide detailed handover notes that comprehensively cover your work during your shift within the Flexilay team.
- Notify the Technician Supervisor of any spare parts and store requirements according to the defined requisition procedure.
- Report any defects or problems within your allocated area of responsibility to the Technician Supervisor or the CPE.
- If a defect could affect ongoing Flexilay operations inform the Chief Pipelay Engineer and any involved parties immediately.
- Review equipment reports from operators, evaluate the information received, and communicate all recommendations for improvements to the Technician Supervisor.
- Be fully conversant with the permit to work process and routine duties as outlined in the control of work system.
- Take charge of creating technical statements and updating schematic when a MAF is required, collaborating closely with the Technician Supervisor throughout the process.
- Apply Company policies and procedures as required, adhering to defined schedules (annual assessments are required for example POWER, HAVS, PAT, COSHH etc).
- Assist the Technician Supervisor in maintaining high standards of QHSE reporting, ensuring that teamwork is conducted in a safe environment at all times.
You are meant for this job if:
- Appropriate electrical, mechanical, hydraulic or control system trade qualification (City & Guilds Level 3, NVQ Level 3, SVQ Level 3 or Equivalent) or sufficient industry experience to assure competence.
- Experienced worker with years in service within the industry at the position held or similar.
- Experienced technician offshore in Pipelay / Flexilay facilities.
- Proficient in spoken and written English.
