The predicted salary is between 42000 - 60000 £ per year.

The Second Engineer shall undertake duties as allocated or directed by the Vessel Chief Engineer. Responsibilities include watchkeeping or day work duties as required.

Job Description Includes but not limited to:

  • Responsible for the safe and efficient operation of all machinery and equipment within the Engineering department's scope.
  • Supervise Engineering department staff and allocate responsibilities for maintenance and operations.
  • Be familiar with machinery and systems to restore essential services in emergencies, and follow company procedures, policies, and instructions.
  • Ensure staff training is adequate.
  • Be aware of Class requirements and prepare machinery for surveys as directed.
  • Maintain accurate records in the Engine Record (ER) log, maintenance logs, water condition logs, and others.
  • Advise the Vessel Chief Engineer on spare gear requirements.
  • Supervise maintenance and repairs, ensuring safety and compliance.
  • Assist in preparing the running repair list, supervising major repairs and dockings, and discussing work schedules and issues with the Vessel Chief Engineer.
  • Support the planned maintenance system.
  • During single Second Engineer shifts, assume all duties in the absence of a second engineer.
  • Review safety notices, circulars, and management system files upon joining or re-joining the vessel.

Deputy Safety Officer duties include:

  • Safety inspections of machinery spaces.
  • Control of COSHH relating to engineering consumables.
  • Monitoring processes with environmental impact potential.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Unlimited Second Engineer Officer with STCW III/2 certification for HV vessels.
  • Training and experience as per IMCA M 117 for Key DP Personnel.
  • Compliance with IMCA guidelines for DP vessel design and operation.
