The HSE Superintendent is responsible for leading, implementing, and assuring Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) performance across TechnipFMC VSO iEPCI® vessel operations. The role provides functional HSE leadership to onshore and offshore teams, ensuring compliance with TechnipFMC HSE policies, international maritime regulations, and client requirements. The HSE Superintendent actively supports safe and efficient execution of offshore activities by driving strong safety leadership, risk management, incident prevention, and continuous improvement through consistent application of HSE standards, while promoting a positive HSE culture and supporting the VSO value driven purpose.
The HSE Superintendent will be an active member of the TechnipFMC HSE community and demonstrate effective teamwork, interpersonal and communication skills.
Job Description
- Contribute to the implementation of the Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) policy and practice, as well as delivering HSE excellence.
- Provide HSE leadership and operational support to iEPCI Vessel Execution and across all functional support.
- Develop HSE management system, ensuring HSE processes and procedures are implemented, effective and standardised across VSO iEPCI.
- Deliver HSE support and subject matter expertise, promote high standards and continuous improvement in HSE, monitoring effective implementation of HSE Standards.
- Development of HSE documentation in support of vessel management, execution and projects.
- Drive the SIF prevention program, promoting identification of high risk hazards and development of engineered solutions to reduce the risk profile across VSO iEPCI.
- Lead or support incident reporting and investigation, and demonstrate effective close out of investigation actions to prevent reoccurrence.
- Monitor and report HSE performance to the business, analysing leading and lagging indicators, providing data to support key performance indicators and initiatives.
- Monitor compliance with management system standards (i.e. ISM Code, ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001), support internal and external HSE audits, facilitating effective close-out of preventative actions.
- Support roll-out of HSE programmes, providing support and guidance, and monitor effectiveness.
- Mentor and support offshore HSE advisors, identifying training needs and development opportunities.
- Proactively build relationships with key internal and external stakeholders and authorities.
- Liaise with Subsea HSE team, internal stakeholders and external bodies to share information, best practice and lessons learned.
You are meant for this job if:
- Experienced HSE professional working within the Subsea industry.
- NEBOSH National General Certificate, or equivalent.
- Strong influencing and communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with offshore crews, onshore teams, clients, and external stakeholders.
- Confident in challenging unsafe acts, behaviours, or decisions constructively and respectfully, regardless of seniority.
- Demonstrates sound judgement and professionalism when dealing with sensitive HSE issues, incidents, or investigations.
- Ability to work collaboratively across multidisciplinary and multicultural teams, fostering trust and promoting a positive safety culture.
- Excellent working knowledge of UK HSE legislation and the application of this to subsea activities.
- Good knowledge and experience in marine industry HSE practices, incident investigation and auditing.
- Good written and oral communication skills for general business and technical subjects.
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office and Microsoft 365 tools.
