Overview
The successful candidate will work as part of the highly skilled Environmental & Sustainability Team within Genesis, supporting a wide range of clients on varied and interesting projects related to the energy industry. You will interface with the wider Genesis organisation through interactions with other discipline teams to provide environmental technical inputs on a variety of projects for public and private clients in the UK and overseas.
Responsibilities
- Leading and executing comprehensive environmental studies related to offshore energy developments and decommissioning projects from early stage screening and risk assessment through to full scale Environmental Impact Assessment and to supporting consenting.
- Preparing, reviewing, and ensuring the quality of deliverables, ensuring compliance with applicable regulations and regional permitting standards.
- Engaging with regulatory authorities, maritime agencies, and environmental NGOs, to facilitate project approvals and address environmental concerns.
- Supporting project teams in integrating environmental considerations into offshore design, construction, and operation phases.
- Project management of deliverables identified above including acting as client focal point.
- Writing tenders in response to requests for proposals and supporting the continued growth of our offshore energy capabilities.
- Staying informed on evolving offshore environmental regulations, industry best practices, and emerging environmental issues.
- Mentoring responsibilities for junior staff on a project level.

We are seeking a candidate with demonstrable experience related to the offshore energy industry and that has the drive to support our continued growth in this sector. Due to a busy and diverse project portfolio, we are looking for professionals with a deep understanding of the environmental impact assessment (EIA) process and a keen interest in how to bring this to the assessment of offshore projects and operations in the context of environmental protection. You will provide leadership to study teams with a focus on EIA in the marine environment.
Qualifications
- Have a degree in a relevant science or environmental subject ideally including a marine aspect.
- Hold experience in a similar role including EIA specific experience.
- Have experience of writing EIAs for energy related projects.
- Have project management experience on small to medium projects.
- Have knowledge of offshore energy development within the UK and the associated environmental legislation.
- Have excellent written skills with attention to detail and an ability to accurately inform the reader about complex projects.
- Be a strong team player.
- Be self-motivated and able to work to tight deadlines, have experience in proposal writing.
- Have familiarity with GIS and environmental modelling tools.
- Have experience with stakeholder engagement specifically public consultations.
- Have professional certifications such as IEMA, IECA, or equivalent.
- Have specific experience and/or knowledge of renewable offshore energy technologies such as offshore wind.
