Responsibilities
- Review Client technical requirements and ensure these are incorporated in Contractor's specifications and design drawings.
- Review project deliverables including: Electrical procedures, Technical specifications, Data sheets, Drawings, Purchase requisitions.
- Coordinate electrical-related issues with other disciplines.
- Conceptual development of grid connection arrangements.
- Participate in formal 3D plant model reviews.
- Provide technical consultancy to the electrical discipline team and projects.
- Provide inputs into design and/or construction Sub-Contracts.
- Evaluate bids/proposals and supervise contractors.
- Act as a mentor to other employees.
- Travel as required for meetings, equipment testing and site technical support for projects.
Qualifications
- Applicants MUST have the right to work in the United Kingdom and possess extensive UK grid connection experience and in-depth knowledge of extra high voltage power distribution systems.
- Degree level electrical engineering qualification, ideally with Chartered status.
- Demonstratable Lead Engineer role experience through conceptual and detailed design, procurement and construction phases with a depth and breadth of experience in design of the electrical infrastructure associated with chemical/polymer/power/industrial plants.
- Excellent knowledge of European, American and International standards applicable to the chemical industry which must include understanding of hazardous area requirements under DSEAR, ATEX, IEC 60079, API RP 500 & 505 and IP Part 15.
- Capability to apply in-depth skills and broad knowledge to address complex problems and non-standard engineering situations.
- Provide motivation, leadership, mentoring and guidance to others.
- Managing time schedules to meet objectives, forecasts, and the identification of resource requirements.
- Understand Client needs and identification of solutions.
- Able to review, interpret and work in accordance with Client/Company standards and procedures.
- Lead and/or participate in project, client, and vendor meetings.
- Capable of explaining difficult concepts and persuading others to adopt a point of view.
- Self-motivated person keen to learn and work individually or as part of a team; with good communication and leadership skills.
