Technip Energies and their partners have been awarded an Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) contract for the world’s first commercial scale gas-fired power stations with carbon capture. The construction site is located in the Tees Valley in the North East of England.

Job Summary

We are seeking a Civil Works Supervisor to ensure that construction civil activities on site are performed in full compliance with UK standards, rules, regulations and industrial relations. Site-based Civil Works Supervisor shall oversee all work performed by the subcontractor or direct hire labour force ensuring that Project safety, quality, schedule and cost objectives are met. The supervisor shall ensure that subcontractor follows the approved procedures, specifications, construction method statements and schedules. The supervisor shall ensure that subcontractors have sufficient qualified supervision, skilled labour and plant to execute their scope of work safely and efficiently. The supervisor shall instruct and guide subcontractors on day-to-day matters and shall be responsible for signing and authorising subcontractors’ daywork sheets.

Job scope (budget, Mnhrs, management, specific criteria): To be completed by project. The civil supervisor you will lead and assist in the overview of civil works across pre-construction, site preparation and main construction works including Underground works, Piling and occasionally Steel Structure. You’ll supervise Civil Subcontractors activities and coordinate internally with Contractor other departments at Site and Office Centers and with Client representative. You’ll ensure proper delivery and handover of the performed work to other disciplines and Subcontractors including identification and clearance of finishings works and punch.

Main Accountabilities

As a Civil Works Supervisor, you’ll play a crucial role in ensuring the success of construction operations:

  • Ensuring the safety of all personnel on-site
  • Compiling, submitting/approving safe system of works including permits to work
  • Ensure compliance with all statutes, standards and company policies, and procedures including health, safety, environment and quality.
  • Ensure that TEN Construction Subcontractors fulfil all their duties under CDM as Principal Contractor or Contractors.
  • Demonstrate Leadership in HSE (Health, Safety & Environment) and understanding HSE regulations in the UK.
  • Creates a quality and HSE oriented work climate that encourages client satisfaction and HSE consciousness among the project team
  • Ensure work is performed in compliance with Project Quality Policy
  • Ensure all QA/QC inspections are undertaken, and the ITPs documentation are correctly completed as per the approved project procedures
  • Overseeing daily work activities, managing multiple subcontractors and work fronts.
  • Understand the subcontractors’ proposed schedule in detail, ensuring that it is realistic, and then support the subcontractors to deliver their scope of work in a safe and timely manner.

Builds and maintains relationship with subcontractor’s and other stakeholders associated with the Project (Client, vendors, local authorities …).

Requirements

  • Must be familiar with the latest site methods, techniques and environmental engineering aspects. Requires specific knowledge in co-ordinating contractor packages, site management and tracking site progress.
  • Extensive experience in industry, preferably on major UK projects in petrochemical, energy transition and related industries.
  • Be comfortable in reading of construction drawings and specifications
  • Developed understanding of UK construction management and execution, contracting strategies, construction planning, industrial relations, CDM, quality and turnover systems as well as construction health, safety, environmental and sustainability requirements.
  • Skills in interpersonal relations, conflict resolution, communication, and leadership
  • Demonstrate strong decision-making, critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrate ability to work within a multi-disciplined project team.
  • Familiarity of working with NAECI agreements and UK Industrial Relations.
  • NEC contract exposure
  • Contractually, commercially, and technically aware.
  • Fluency in English
  • Must be eligible to live/work in the UK
  • CSCS card and SMSTS qualification
