As the market leader in Data Centre Transformations, we deliver high-quality Professional Services and Data Centre Migrations for global clients. This is a 12-month fixed-term contract, with the opportunity to extend or move into a permanent position.

We are seeking a Data Centre Engineer to support ongoing operations across multiple data centre sites in the West London and Slough area. This role is hands‑on and business‑critical, ensuring smooth installation, maintenance, and decommissioning of data centre infrastructure. You’ll play a key role in ensuring uptime, reliability, and operational excellence.

Key responsibilities

  • Server Installation & Decommissioning – Perform full lifecycle handling of data centre hardware, including installation, racking, stacking, cabling, power connection, and de‑racking of enterprise‑grade servers.
  • Cabling & Infrastructure Management – Install, patch, and label copper (Cat5e/Cat6/Cat6A) and fibre (LC/SC/MPO) cabling to structured cabling standards.
  • Basic Break/Fix & Troubleshooting – Conduct physical troubleshooting of hardware and connectivity issues under the guidance of remote engineering teams.
  • Remote / Smart Hands Support – Act as on‑site support for customer or network operations teams, executing work requests and providing remote eyes‑and‑hands assistance via established ticketing systems.
  • Power & Environmental Awareness – Safely manage connections to PDUs, UPS feeds, and redundant power circuits, adhering to load balance and safety best practices.
  • Documentation & Reporting – Maintain accurate installation and maintenance logs, audit records, and photo documentation to ensure full traceability and compliance.
  • Health & Safety Compliance – Follow all data centre safety protocols, including ESD protection, PPE use, and safe manual handling procedures.

Familiarity with high‑density compute and AI hardware (e.g., Dell XE9680, Lenovo SR675, Supermicro GPU servers). Understanding of basic networking concepts (IP addressing, VLANs, routing, switching). Experience with storage systems (NetApp, Dell EMC, HPE 3PAR, Pure Storage). Exposure to DCIM tools (e.g., Schneider EcoStruxure, Nlyte). Basic Windows/Linux OS understanding for system verification or installation.

Preferred certifications (Not mandatory)

  • ITIL Foundation
  • Low‑voltage or ESD handling certifications
