Rota-based shift schedule covering Monday to Sunday, including morning, day, and night rotations.
The Role We are seeking multiple Level 1 and Level 2 Data Centre Engineers to support ongoing operations at our customers data centre in Hayes. This role is hands‑on and business‑critical, ensuring the smooth installation, maintenance, and decommissioning of data centre infrastructure. You will be responsible for providing advanced technical support, troubleshooting, break‑fix and maintenance of high‑performance datacentre systems that include GPUs, networking, cooling, and storage technologies. This role is critical to guaranteeing uptime, performance, and reliability of infrastructure and requires strong collaboration with engineering, operations, and vendor partners in order to meet our SLAs.
Key responsibilities
- Deliver advanced smart hands support across the clients data centre environments, including complex racking, stacking, structured cabling, hardware lifecycle tasks, and on‑site diagnostics.
- Independently execute and oversee technical migration, installation, and engineering engagements to a high standard.
- Collaborate closely with Consultancy, Project/Programme Management, and customer technical teams to lead onsite execution under defined project structures.
- Perform installation, upgrade, remediation, and verification of enterprise compute, network, storage and AI/high‑density hardware (NVIDIA, Dell XE/XE9680, Lenovo ThinkSystem, Supermicro GPU servers, Nokia AirFrame/Cloud).
- Support documentation creation including LLDs, runbooks, test plans, rack plans, and post‑engagement reports.
- Execute site surveys, assess infrastructure readiness, and provide technical input into Statements of Work.
- Champion safety standards, including correct lifting practices, ESD handling, power safety, and risk identification.
- Participate in on‑call rotations to provide 24/7 coverage for critical infrastructure incidents.
Technical skills
- Experience supporting datacentre infrastructure, including servers, network hardware, and storage systems.
- Strong troubleshooting skills with the ability to diagnose and resolve complex hardware and infrastructure issues.
- Working knowledge of Linux system administration.
- Familiarity with networking protocols, topologies, and troubleshooting (e.g., TCP/IP, BGP, VLANs).
- Understanding of datacentre cooling, power distribution, and resiliency best practices.
- Experience working in large‑scale cloud or datacentre environments.
- Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate across global teams.
