About the Role

We’re supporting a UK-based technology business developing complex, real-world systems that combine software with physical devices. This is a hands-on engineering role focused on testing integrated hardware and software systems in both lab and live environments. It’s ideal for someone who enjoys working directly with physical systems rather than purely desk-based or automation-only testing.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Execute testing of integrated hardware and software systems
  • Set up, configure, and troubleshoot physical systems and test environments
  • Carry out lab and field-based testing activities
  • Analyse system performance in real-world conditions
  • Support the development of test processes, tools, and automation
  • Work closely with engineering teams to investigate and resolve issues

What We’re Looking For

  • Experience testing systems that include both software and physical components
  • Background working with hardware, sensors, electronics, or similar technologies
  • Comfortable working in hands-on test environments (lab and/or field-based)
  • Strong problem-solving skills at a system level
  • Experience contributing to or supporting test activities

Nice to Have

  • Experience in robotics, automotive, IoT, or related industries
  • Exposure to field trials or live operational environments
  • Basic scripting, automation, or data analysis experience

This Role May Not Suit You If...

  • Your experience is limited to web, app, or API testing
  • You focus primarily on manual/functional software testing only
  • You’re looking for a fully remote or non-hands-on role
