We have a rare and exciting opportunity for a Factory Manager / Plant Manager / General Manager to join an established and growing manufacturing company. Role Objectives:

  • Collaborate with the Board and Regional Manager with regards to strategic and ongoing plans for the factory
  • Utilisation of Lean Manufacturing principles and implement improvements
  • Inspire and lead the factory and staff, having them support change and development positively
  • Provide clear vision, goals and objectives to teams and managers, and meet them
  • Increase fluency of information and data in all departments
  • Increase productivity levels across the site, OEE
  • Help bring new technology and/or ideas to the factory

Responsibilities:

  • Providing strong and effective leadership in managing plant operations whilst setting the highest standards in terms of health, safety and environment, production, quality, reliability, maintenance and people performance.
  • Responsible for all operational activity of the site, managing the performance and development of a large team whilst promoting a health, safety & environmental culture
  • Drive lean, world class manufacturing (WCM) methodologies and a culture and mindset which encourages the identification of improvement opportunities as well as using and developing World Class Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement methodologies
  • Ensure high levels of customer service through delivery of production and yield targets
  • Maintain and improve product quality to required standards and customer requirements
  • To ensure effective manufacturing operations which produce target volumes, yield and efficiency and delivers high customer service and cost control
  • Focus on plant reliability & AM/PM maintenance and ensure the CMMS and other PPM schedules are adhered to
  • Develop a longer-term vision for the site to encapsulate its full potential
  • Financial accountability for the site; set budgets and capital requirements and ensure cost management within budget and forecast
  • Develop an enthusiastic, motivated and flexible team
  • Drive change; people, plant and processes

Skills & Experience:

  • Hold relevant qualifications, ideally in Engineering (Degree preferred but not essential)
  • Site Management, General Manager, Plant Manager experience in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
  • Those who have worked their way up to Plant/Factory Manager from a Maintenance Engineering department is desirable
  • Strong people management skills is essential - managerial, organisational, planning and leadership skills, especially managing change and coaching others
  • Working knowledge of lean manufacturing tools and techniques; Green/Black Belt Six Sigma preferred
  • Exceptional Health & Safety awareness and NEBOSH Certificate (or IOSH qualification) preferred
  • Ability to produce, analyse and review detailed numerical data and make clear, sound decisions
  • Working knowledge of CMMS/PPM systems and understands maintenance and plant reliability
  • Good project management skills
  • Excellent communication & negotiation skills
  • Excellent and proven analytical & problem-solving skills (including FMEA, RCA, DMAIC, 5Y’s, etc)
  • Ability to work under pressure and within deadlines
