A heavy plant manufacturing company is looking for a motivated individual to join their established and successful maintenance team as a Mechanical Maintenance Engineer / Mechanical Fitter.

This role offers:

  • Continental 12 hour shifts - 4 on 4 off (4 Days followed by 4 Nights)
  • Salary: £46,000 to £48,000 per annum - overtime paid at x1.5 & x2.0 + benefits
  • Location: Easily commutable from Bromsgrove, Worcester, Kidderminster, Halesowen, Bridgnorth, Ludlow, Redditch and surrounding areas

Responsibilities include:

  • Planned Preventative Maintenance across a range of equipment and machinery.
  • Dealing with machinery breakdowns and problems, requiring good fault finding, diagnostics and repair skills.
  • Assisting with planned shutdowns and project work, refurbishing machines and replacing worn parts.
  • Working safely on large and heavy production machinery to check, repair or replace belts, bearings, motors, gears, pumps, chains, hydraulics, pneumatics, etc.

Skills & Experience required:

  • Completed a recognised Mechanical Engineering Apprenticeship or hold Mechanical Engineering qualifications (NVQ or C&G) at Level 3 or higher.
  • Experience with mechanical maintenance, mechanical fitting or servicing work, ideally within industrial and/or production/manufacturing environments.
  • Experience with belts, chains, bearings - fitting & aligning, pumps, seals, motors, gears, hydraulics, pneumatics, MIG/Arc welding and fabrication is desirable.
  • Good troubleshooting skills & diagnostics experience.
  • Knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics and/or drive chain fault finding is highly beneficial, as is some Electrical control systems experience.
  • The ability to think outside the box to solve mechanical challenges & issues.
  • Enjoy working as part of a team, delivering PPM, continuous improvement, and investigating long-term solutions to regular problems.
  • Able to contribute to the ongoing improvement of the CMMS.
  • Commitment to safe working and strong experience of health and safety best practice.
