Job Description
Role: Shift Production Manager
Salary: £37,000 to £45,000 per annum, plus bonus and benefits including private medical, life assurance and pension
Hours: Monday to Friday, earlies & afternoon shifts; 6am till 2pm / 2pm till 10pm
Location: Commutable from Bolton, Preston, Blackburn, Leyland, Salford, Manchester, Wigan, Rochdale, Rufford, and surrounding areas

Responsibilities
This role is to manage and oversee Production for the Shift: including team performance, change management, continuous improvements, KPI’s, strategic planning and P&L support.
The team consists of up to 50 staff, approx. – these are made up of 3 Production Team Leader (your direct reports) and 40/45 Production Operators (indirect reports).
This role would suit someone who is highly motivated and excited by challenges and sees them as opportunities to make an impact and bring forward their experience and ideas to make the required changes and improvements. The role requires a “hands on” approach with effective leadership and continuous improvements, to help Production Staff to reach their full potential.
Deliver production targets; volume / yield / waste reduction
Lead and organise a team to ensure optimal plant performance
Ensure the safety of all site personnel at all times
Have an excellent knowledge of the plant and process to help make informed decisions
Manage within budgetary cost constraints, notably; overtime, materials etc
Support and promote a continual improvement culture in line with objectives
Effective communication with other departments and stakeholders at all times
Ensure that all materials and equipment are available when required; i.e. packaging materials / additives / PPE etc
Identify training requirements of staff and liaise with appropriate departments to ensure that it is actioned
Investigate any accidents, injuries or near misses within 24 hours and communicate to all relevant parties
Requirements
Experienced leader and manager in a relevant & fast paced role, this could be in production and/or manufacturing and/or retail environment,
Management of a team and leading teams.
Performance Management & Control of KPI's – delegation of these to teams, monitoring performance and overseeing delivery.
Extremely motivated and driven individual with bags of enthusiasm and passion.
Strong communicator and influencer, ability to talk to people of all levels and inspire them.
Experience of lean manufacturing techniques and methods would be advantageous.
Any qualifications in a relevant field is advantageous, such as business, engineering, production or technical – most & any considered, or equivalent experience
