Company: We are currently recruiting for an exciting Production Supervisor / Shift Production Manager opportunity within a well-established and highly respected heavy manufacturing business. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who thrives within a smaller team environment and enjoys taking real ownership and responsibility within a manufacturing operation. This is not a role where you will simply blend into the background; you will be trusted, relied upon and given the opportunity to make a genuine impact on-site every single day.
At times, you will be the most senior person on-site and will act as the eyes and ears for the Plant Manager. Therefore, we are looking for someone with strong leadership ability, excellent communication skills, confidence in decision making, and the ability to hold their own in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. The environment is of a heavier nature, therefore candidates from heavy manufacturing, engineering, production, processing, FMCG or similar backgrounds would be highly advantageous. However, this company is ultimately looking for the right person, attitude and leadership qualities above all else, who is phased by the environment.
This role will suit someone who is hands-on, proactive, driven, enjoys responsibility and genuinely wants the opportunity to lead, influence and improve operations within a highly visible leadership role.
Responsibilities:
- Overseeing Production operations on shift, ensuring the safe, efficient and effective running of the manufacturing operation at all times.
- Leading and motivating Production teams to achieve production targets and KPIs.
- Driving Health & Safety standards and ensuring compliance across site.
- Managing labour resource and supporting operational performance.
- Leading toolbox talks, communication meetings and one-to-ones.
- Supporting continuous improvements and operational efficiencies.
- Managing production quality, output and waste reduction.
- Working closely with Maintenance Engineering and other departments.
- Supporting investigations, incident management and problem solving.
- Ensuring effective communication between shifts and departments.
- Acting as a key support and trusted partner to the Plant Manager.
This role requires a visible and hands-on leadership style with strong people management and communication skills throughout.
Requirements:
- Experienced leader or supervisor within Manufacturing, Production, Heavy Industry, Engineering, Warehouse, Industrial or similar environments.
- Strong people management and leadership ability.
- Excellent communication skills and confidence dealing with people at all levels.
- Able to work within a fast-paced and demanding manufacturing environment.
- Comfortable taking responsibility and ownership on shift.
- Hands-on, physically fit/able, and proactive approach to leadership.
- Strong problem-solving ability and decision-making skills.
- Experience within heavy manufacturing or industrial environments is advantageous but not essential.
- IOSH or similar Health & Safety qualifications would be beneficial.
- Experience of continuous improvements, performance management and driving standards would be advantageous.
