Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30am – 5:00pm

We’re working with an established manufacturer of high-precision electromagnetic devices used across scientific and healthcare applications. They are seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to join their engineering team in Pulborough, West Sussex.

This is a hands-on design role focused on developing complex mechanical assemblies using SolidWorks, performing engineering calculations, and supporting the full lifecycle from concept through to manufacturing. For more experienced applicants, there is also the opportunity to step into a senior or team leadership capacity.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Create detailed 3D designs and assemblies using SolidWorks
  • Perform mechanical engineering calculations and FEA analysis
  • Generate BOMs and technical documentation
  • Work closely with manufacturing teams to ensure design-for-manufacture (DFM) standards are met
  • Lead or mentor junior engineers (for senior candidates)
  • Support continuous improvement in design processes and project delivery
What We’re Looking For:
  • Degree-qualified in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent experience)
  • Proficient in SolidWorks and mechanical design for manufacturing
  • Comfortable with FEA tools, BOM creation, and mechanical calculations
  • Previous experience in a high-precision or technical product environment
  • Strong problem-solving and communication skills
  • Team leadership or mentoring experience is a plus (for senior-level applicants)
