We are working with a global Software, Systems & Engineering company in the Defence Sector, supporting them with appointing a Senior Materials Composite Engineer. You will be responsible for activities relating to the verification and validation of composite structural and non-structural components from coupon testing through to large assemblies. The engineer will be expected to work with other teams supporting the development of both bonded and bolted composite joints and the design of the composite to metalwork interface.
Salary: GBP60-65k per annum + benefits
Location: Gosport - hybrid (1-2 days onsite)
Working hours: 37 per week
Duration: perm, full time
Requirements:
- Sole UK nationals living and working in the UK for the past 5 years
- Experience in verification and validation of composite structures using pre-preg and resin infusion techniques
Your responsibilities will include:
- Using your skills and knowledge to develop the capabilities in the areas you are working in
- Mentoring others to improve the knowledge of your areas of expertise within the wider engineering and technical communities
- Combining composites subject matter expertise and sound engineering judgement to solve problems
- Breaking down complex tasks and then executing the planned schedule of work
- Using your experience in validation and verification to provide justification statements
- Giving technical presentations and talking knowledgeably about the work conducted in external forums, including conferences and in customer meetings
Essential experience of the Composites Engineer:
- Demonstrable experience with Finite Element Analysis (FEA)
- Strong experience in verification and validation
- Understanding of composites and structural assessment, preferably maritime structures
Essential qualifications for the Mechanical Engineer:
- BEng / MEng in Naval Architecture, Materials Engineering or Mechanical/Structural Engineering, or equivalent knowledge from previous experience
