We are supporting one of the UK’s busiest and most advanced bakeries in their search for an experienced Controls Engineer to join their high-performing engineering team at their Forest Gate site. This is a hands-on, site-based role where you will take ownership of all control systems and electrical infrastructure across a fast-paced production facility that manufactures over two million units per week.
You will act as the site’s technical authority on PLCs and automation, delivering high-level fault-finding, system modifications, and performance improvements — while supporting and mentoring shift engineers to strengthen their own automation capabilities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead PLC fault-finding and support across complex production lines
- Carry out system modifications, upgrades, and continuous improvement projects
- Support site-wide electrical and automation infrastructure
- Mentor engineers to build in-house fault-finding capability
- Maintain documentation and ensure compliance with duty holder responsibilities
What We’re Looking For:
- Strong PLC programming and fault-finding skills (preferably Allen Bradley / Rockwell; Siemens also valued)
- Electrical engineering qualification and working knowledge of electrical safety and compliance
- Proven experience in a fast-paced manufacturing or FMCG environment
- Strong problem-solving ability with a proactive and collaborative approach
