About The Role

The UK-SIFS Training Manager will lead the design, development, and delivery of a high-quality doctoral training programme for the EPSRC Centre for Doctoral Training (CDT) in UK Semiconductor Industry Future Skills (UK-SIFS), an £18.5 million initiative hosted by Swansea University in partnership with the University of Leeds. The programme aims to address critical semiconductor skills shortages by providing industry-focused doctoral training.

The postholder will have overall responsibility for implementing the CDT technical training programme, ensuring that training is technically rigorous, industry-relevant, and tailored to individual student needs. Key responsibilities include:

  • Developing training materials
  • Creating personalised training plans for doctoral researchers
  • Monitoring student progress
  • Evaluating training effectiveness through feedback and performance metrics

The role requires close collaboration with semiconductor industry partners to identify emerging skills requirements and co-develop training content. The Training Manager will coordinate contributions from academics, industry experts, professional trainers, and other stakeholders, while also exploring opportunities to expand training provision through micro-credentials, apprenticeships, graduate programmes, and external audiences.

Candidates should possess a doctorate or equivalent relevant experience, a strong background in designing and delivering technical training programmes, excellent communication and organisational skills, and experience within scientific or engineering environments. Experience in higher education, semiconductors, or cleanroom environments would be advantageous.
