Senior Trials Manager

We are seeking a proactive and organised Trial Manager to join the Pragmatic Clinical Trials Unit (PCTU), in collaboration with the Centre for Bone & Joint Health. This is an exciting opportunity to play a leading role in the management and delivery of a high-profile clinical trial funded by the NIHR and a multidisciplinary research team. You will take strategic and operational responsibility for trial management, ensuring the study is delivered to the highest standards of quality, regulatory compliance and scientific integrity.

You will oversee all aspects of trial coordination, from study set-up through to delivery and reporting. This includes supervising trial coordinators, managing trial processes and documentation, liaising with internal and external stakeholders, and ensuring adherence to Good Clinical Practice (GCP) and regulatory requirements.

As part of the Senior Trial Management team, you will contribute to the development of standard operating procedures, support resource planning and help foster a collaborative network across trial units. You will also represent the Trial Management function at key operational and management meetings.

You will hold a degree (or equivalent experience) in a relevant discipline and have substantial experience managing clinical trials, ideally including multi-centre CTIMPs. You will bring a strong understanding of clinical trial governance, including regulatory approvals, ethics submissions and the updated ICH-GCP requirements. Experience in developing trial protocols, SOPs and training research staff is essential.

You should have excellent organisational and leadership skills, ideally with experience of supervising or line managing staff. You will be confident working independently while managing multiple priorities in complex research environments. Strong communication skills are essential, as you will liaise with a wide range of stakeholders.

The Blizard Institute was established in 2003 and is one of six Institutes within the Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry, QMUL. The Institute comprises approximately 360 staff based in four academic Centres and one Public Engagement Centre, and supports a combined total of c700 postgraduate research and taught students.
