Position Overview

The post is for a Research Technician in the Endothelial Signalling group of Dr Raimondi at the William Harvey Research Institute, Queen Mary University of London.

This is a full‑time, fixed‑term appointment for 1 year.

Project Context

The appointment supports the programme of work funded by Barts Charity to characterise novel mechanisms of blood pressure regulation in a mouse model.

The aim is to assess whether a novel protein‑protein complex identified by the lab can be exploited as a therapeutic target, involving antibody generation, characterisation and evaluation of therapeutic potential using biochemical, molecular and cell biology techniques.

Responsibilities

  • Support the delivery of the project's objectives through a range of laboratory techniques.
  • Perform mammalian cell culture, SDS‑PAGE, Western blotting, ELISA and protein, RNA or DNA handling.
  • Generate and characterise antibodies against the target protein‑protein complex.
  • Collaborate closely with the Antibody Facility at WHRI to develop, characterise and validate antibodies.
  • Contribute to cell‑based functional assays to evaluate therapeutic potential.
  • Maintain accurate records and reports of experimental procedures and results.

Qualifications

  • Graduated with a BSc or equivalent qualification in a relevant biological or biomedical science discipline.
  • Independent, self‑motivated and capable of working both independently and as part of a team.
  • Experience in mammalian cell culture, molecular and biochemical techniques (SDS‑PAGE, Western blotting, ELISA, protein/RNA/DNA handling).
  • Desirable experience in molecular immunology, recombinant antibody technology, protein‑protein interactions, cell biology or cell imaging.
